FW Power Generators Ltd is proud to announce the successful supply, installation support, and commissioning of a bespoke 550 kVA diesel generator system for an NHS hospital in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire.
The project formed part of a critical infrastructure resilience upgrade designed to ensure uninterrupted backup power for essential healthcare operations.
The generator package was built around the renowned Perkins 2506A-E15TAG2 engine, coupled with a Stamford alternator, delivering reliable standby performance for demanding healthcare applications. The unit was also equipped with an IP67-rated connection box to simplify installation and improve site connectivity.
As part of the project scope, FW Power fabricated a bespoke structural base frame to elevate the generator and provide additional protection against potential flooding risks on site.
Prior to delivery, the generator underwent a comprehensive Factory Acceptance Test (FAT), followed by full Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) and commissioning procedures to ensure complete operational readiness.
Gavin Dean, Head of Operations at FW Power Generators Ltd, commented:
“When we undertake projects like this — especially for the NHS — we do not simply view them commercially. We see them as a corporate responsibility and make sure taxpayers receive maximum value from our services.”
At FW Power, we continue to support mission-critical sectors across the UK with reliable diesel generator solutions, from initial sizing and specification through to testing, commissioning, and long-term support.
