CAT 500 kVA Diesel Generator – From London high rise to Global power solution.

Decommissioning a 500 kVA CAT Generator in London.

Originally installed in 2019 on the rooftop of a 10-storey building in London, the CAT 500 kVA generator was serving as an emergency backup power supply. When the building owners decided that the generator was no longer required, our team was contracted to decommission and remove the generator.

Working in central London requires precision planning, specialist equipment and a highly skilled team to see it through. When removing a heavy-duty generator from the top of a high-rise, there are so many factors to consider, but safety and precision was the priority.  Our engineers coordinated the safe lifting, dismantling, and transport arrangements to ensure the process was completed smoothly and without disruption. This is just one of many examples of difficult removals FW Power have successfully completed.

Transport to Our Crewe Depot.

Once removed, the generator was securely transported to our UK depot in Crewe, Cheshire. This is where every used generator goes through our industry-leading inspection and servicing process before resale.

Reconditioning & 75-Point Inspection.

At our facility, the CAT 500 kVA used  generator underwent a complete 75-point inspection, full servicing, and reconditioning. Our technicians carried out the following steps:

• Comprehensive mechanical and electrical checks.
• Replacement of filters, oils, and service parts.
• Load bank testing to verify performance under real conditions.
• Detailed inspection of the alternator, engine, control panel, and fuel system.
• Repainting and refurbishment for resale presentation.
• Full reports completed to show every step of the testing  process.

This ensures that every generator leaving our depot is reliable, efficient, and ready to provide dependable power for years to come.

Export to Libya for Resale.

After testing and certification, the generator was sold to one of our long-standing partners in Libya, who specialise in supplying reconditioned Caterpillar generators across North Africa. Shipping was arranged directly from our depot, with full export documentation handled by our logistics team.
